Sugary drinks are the single leading source of added sugars in the American diet. Children consume more than 30 gallons of sugary drinks, on average, every year. In addition to weight gain, excess consumption of added sugars, especially from sugary drinks, raises the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and tooth decay. Join us in a conversation with the American Heart Association (AHA) to discuss their policy regarding Healthy Options for Kids at Restaurants which focuses on changing the culture of health in our city and helping our children have optimal health.
