The Benjamin & Yancy Foundation, Incorporated (BY Foundation) is embarking upon its second year of providing free education to its surrounding community through cancer support groups. Every second Tuesday of each month in 2020, the Benjamin & Yancy Foundation will host both breast and prostate cancer support groups at the AmeriHealth Building located at 3155 Gentilly Boulevard, from 6 to 7PM. The BY Foundation?s Cancer Support Groups? meeting dates are as follows: February 11th | March 10th | April 14th | May 12th | June 9th July 14th | August 11th | September 8th | October 13th | November 10th | December 8th The Benjamin & Yancy Foundation's goal for facilitating cancer support groups is to create a new mindset-paradigm in New Orleans' citizens to empower individuals to accept that cancer isn't a death sentence. A reoccurring theme and testament many cancer patients and survivors can relate to, is having a positive attitude, clear vision, and determination to see things through, which provides the energy needed to conquer through a cancer diagnosis. The BY Foundation is dedicated to creating a healing space for patients, survivors, and their families to gently allow the process to take its course, while providing communal support. The BY Foundation?s Cancer Support Group Meetings are in partnership with Us TOO International and the National Alliance of State Prostate Cancer Coalitions. Come prepared to experience a facilitated, yet open forum-like meeting where diverse topics will be discussed. Topics ranging from mental health and a survivorship mindset, to health & wellness in the form of a herbalist approach such as creative expression, motion & stillness, and more. In addition, refreshments are provided, as well as, door prizes and surprise giveaways to BY Foundation?s Cancer Support Group Meeting Attendees. The Benjamin & Yancy Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, dedicated to providing screening, therapeutic services and educational resources to those coping with breast & prostate cancer. The ultimate mission of the BY Foundation is not only to provide various educational resources to individuals with cancer and their caregivers, but to also encourage New Orleanians to educate themselves on the cancer histories of their families. The BY Foundation is committed to being a catalyst for tangible change?in how cancer patients in our community approach their fight against these diseases, by providing more knowledge, support, and funneling resources to the search for a cure for breast and prostate cancer.
